Google 7-Inch tablet

New Delhi: Google is all set to bring its Android-based Nexus tablets to the market by July, media reports said.

Google is reportedly working with Asus to develop the device, and the entry-level price will be around USD 200.

Shipments of about 600,000 tablets are set to begin in June, reports claimed. The tablet's details are not known but there has been speculation about Android 4.0 running on top of a quad-core chip.

Earlier the Google Nexus tablet was expected to launch in May, but the tablet launch was postponed to make changes to the design and find way to reduce hardware costs even further.

The tablet will feature a seven-inch display and would be more of a direct competitor to Amazon's Kindle Fire and Samsung's Galaxy Tabs than Apple's iPad.

The device will probably be sold directly to consumers via the new hardware section in the Google Play Store.

The new tablet, will reportedly have an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and Wi-Fi (only) for internet connectivity. source-zeenews.india.com

Garmin Car GPS in India - priced at Rs 8450 - Rs 9990

World's largest maker of GPS devices Garmin Corporation, on Tuesday entered the Indian mass market with the launch of its nuvi 40LM and 50LM devices, to be priced at Rs 8450 and Rs 9990 respectively.

The devices will also come with free maps of Singapore and Malaysia, two of the most visited vacation spots by Indians. Indian accent will be in-built in the devices.

"Different from traditional navigation devices, which make it difficult to understand the street name or area because of in-built American accent, Garmin self-developed technology and was the first to implement Indian accent into devices. We believe Indian English sounds much more familiar and can be well-recognised by Indian people.

Furthermore, voice guidance in Hindi will further help in popularising the devices," says Tony An, Garmin Asia Marketing Director.

Some of the unique features are Junction View which helps drivers avoid last minute maneuvers. 'Lane Info' guides to the proper lane for navigation and Highway Mode which tells the approaching exist on a highway. Its 'Text-to-speech' feature speaks street names in English but in an Indian accent.

Talking on the need to introduce lesser priced models in Indian market, An said, "Technology should not be restricted to the high and mighty. It has been noticed that masses travel a lot and need guidance to reach the destination.

Even on vacation these are the people who love to travel on their own without any entourage following them. So, Garmin devices will fill in the gap making their vacations and moving around easier."

These devices like other Garmin devices will have broadcast in Hindi and Indian English. The devices come with free lifetime maps. Garmin has a 57% share in personal navigation devices in Americas and around 38% share worldwide. It opened its India office on Tuesday in the capital. source-economictimes.indiatimes.com

Typing style = digital fingerprint

Typing styles are as unique as fingerprints and could soon be used to verify the identity of computer users, according to a new study.

The Queensland University of Technology's Eesa Al Solami has developed an algorithmic system to analyse typists' keystroke dynamics, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The unique striking pattern will allow computers to lock down sensitive information in the case of an unauthorized user.

Even though the system is in its early stages, Solami doesn't believe it will render internet username and password useless.

"You need a username and password but a username and password cannot protect your computer (once you're logged in)," he said.

"My actual approach is to extract the behaviour of users and see if we can distinguish different users during one session," he added.

The researcher claimed that the system would be valuable to industries that collect large volumes of personal information such as banks and the armed forces and it could be extended to mobile phones and tablets. source-zeenews.india.com
